So you've collected quite a few old copies of edited content.  Time to take out the trash.  Just trim down the old backup copies by deciding on how far back you want to keep the old copies.

Select a date, backup copies prior to that time will be removed.  Choices range from all (the current date and time) to three months ago.  Note that you must have full access to all content types to successfully complete this task.  If you've installed security on some of the content types, you'll get error messages on attempts to delete content to which you don't have permission.

Once you select a date, the files that will be deleted are listed.  Click "Continue" to begin the cleanup.

And there you have it, task complete, old backup files removed, our friendly success message telling us the good news.

Because of the nature of the task involved, a security element has been added to the page preceding the one that does the work.  It is designed to prevent someone from tampering with the form to do something you don't want or to prevent someone from writing a script to automatically call this page.  Of course, the threat of misuse is minimal if your site has been configured properly, but security is a process and the more levels of security you have, the harder it is to have something bad sneak through.

The main reason you'll see this page is if you try to reload the page after deleting files.  Or you'll see it if you don't submit the form for 20 minutes and you session expires.

We're almost done, now, just the last two sections.  Siteman is next, an optional component you may not need and then Site Configuration, which you may already have read if you used this series to configure your site.
